Company announces transition to 100% employee ownership, giving its team a stake in the future they are building together.

Paducah, KY October 30, 2026 –(PR.com)– Employees at Credit Bureau Systems have helped build the company’s success for decades. Now they have a new reason to celebrate: the company has become 100% employee-owned.

Chairman Mark Edwards announced the transition at a recent company event. Through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP, eligible employees will receive company shares over time as a retirement benefit, at no cost to them. As the company grows, employees will have an opportunity to share in the value they help create.

“We have always called Credit Bureau Systems and Ambulance Medical Billing a work family,” Edwards said. “Now our employees have the opportunity to own part of that family business. This is a way to recognize their individual contributions, celebrate what we have accomplished together and give them a stake in what comes next.”

Founded in 1952, Credit Bureau Systems entered a defining new era in 1974, when G. Douglas Edwards Sr. and his wife, Elizabeth Bass Edwards, purchased the company. Together, they made it a family business and built it into one of McCracken County’s largest employers. Today, Credit Bureau Systems and its divisions serve clients in 28 states—a legacy of growth that now enters a new chapter with employee ownership.

The Edwards family and company leadership chose employee ownership as a succession strategy that carries those values forward. The transition rewards the people behind the company’s success, supports local jobs and strengthens its commitment to the clients and communities it serves.

Clients can expect the same industry leading service they know today. Leadership, management, and employees will remain in their roles, and daily operations will continue but perhaps with a little extra incentive.

Credit Bureau Systems employs more than 250 people across its locations in Paducah, Clarksville, Lexington, Owensboro and Hazard. For those employees, the announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter: a chance to help shape the company’s future as its owners.
